Lilanie Kadirgamar Geiger dedicates cookbook to late mother

‘Amma’s Cuisine’ features recipes, story of island wedding

WASHINGTON – Inspired by her mother, author Lilanie Kadirgamar Geiger wrote “Amma’s Cuisine: Traditional Sri Lanka & International Recipes and Island Wedding Story.” A woman who mixed traditional western and eastern flavors for a whole new taste, Lilanie’s mother left her with an appreciation for cooking and her Sri Lankan heritage.

Featuring Sri Lankan, American and other international recipes, “Amma’s Cuisine” also tells the story of Lilanie’s mother’s island wedding. Seeking a global audience, Lilanie wishes to honor her mother while passing along some of her distinct creations for others to enjoy and appreciate.

“I wanted to honor my mother after her death, by writing a cookbook as I used to tease her that she would have a kitchen in heaven,” Lilanie says.

With increasing globalization, many are expanding their palates, and Lilanie’s book helps those looking to include spicy and Asian foods in their diet while presenting an exotic love story.
