Can misogyny be funny?
Seattle audiences will find out April 29 & 30 when Lynann Politte debuts her performance piece, “Eve Was Framed...A Comedy about Misogyny” at the Ethnic Cultural Center Theater (University of Washington), April 29&30, 8pm.
by Lynann Politte Thursday, April 14, 2011
Politte is an accomplished producer, writer and director, but “Eve Was Framed” will be the first time she has performed her own work on stage.
She said the performance tells the story of her own personal journey, but that it has a broader message as well.
“It actually represents women’s journey — our personal stories are what keep us connected to one another,” Politte said.
Politte’s poignant perspective draws from current events, her personal experiences and historical, cultural and social acts against women. Creating an episodic narrative, Politte weaves her way through familiar scenarios, engaging the audience in a powerful fusion of physical theater, storytelling, monologues and poetry in this multi-media performance piece.
“The fight for women’s equality has made great strides, but Lynann Politte shows us – with a razor wit and in no uncertain terms – that the battle for a truly equitable life is still very much worth waging. Eve Was Framed is a work of keen observation and courageous execution.” Rebecca Whitman
Eve Was Framed will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday April 29&30, at the Ethnic Cultural Center Theater near University of Washington campus. Tickets range $10-$17, are on sale at www.brownpapertickets.com or at the door. Subject matter is suitable for 16 and older.
