Singapore aspires to become a global talent city. She continues to woo foreign talents from around the world. The Ministry of Manpower designs a few types of work visas which correspond to specific qualifications of foreign individuals.

Rikvin publishes a Singapore Work Visa Fact Sheet on its website. The fact sheet is downloadable for free for anybody who wishes to seek for better employment opportunities in Singapore.

“We catalogue the different features and eligibility requirements of two work visas in Singapore,” chimes Rikvin, referring to the Employment pass and Entrepreneur pass.

“There is also a separate page for each type of work visa on the fact sheet besides from a page which shows comparison,” Rikvin adds.

The fact sheet explains, for example, the individuals qualified to apply for either the Employment pass or Entrepreneur pass.

“The Employment pass can be applied both by an employment seeker or an investor,” explains Rikvin, “the common requirement from both applicants is the tertiary level of education.”

Depending on the amount of salary earned by an investor or foreign employee in Singapore, the type of Employment pass issued by the Ministry of Manpower varies.

“An individual earning at least S$3,800 is given a Q1 EP pass, while an earner of S$4,000 receives a P2 EP pass, and P1 is issued should the income reach S$8,000,” Rikvin continues to explain.

Included in the fact sheet are the requirements for an investor in registering a company.

“An investor needs to have a minimum paid-up capital worth S$1, but which can be raised throughout the operations of the company,” says Rikvin.

Meanwhile, an Entrepreneur pass is exclusive for an investor who has not yet completed a tertiary level of education.

“An Entre pass does not allow the holder to seek employment as it is exclusive for an investor,” Rikvin continues.

It says moreover: “The fact sheet shows that an applicant ought to prepare a capital investment worth S$50,000, and 10-page a business proposal outlining the business goals, commercial activities, products or services, and the marketing strategies.”

While the Employment pass refers to the salary to determine the type of EP pass issued, the Entre pass relies on the Total Business Spending a company is required to have to determine whether the applicant deserves a Q1, P1, or P2.

“For Q1 Entre pass, the TBS is S$100,000 annually, and the P2 Entre pass is S$150,000, while the P1 requires a TBS worth S$300,000,” Rikvin remarks.

The Total Business Spending is a requirement of a business within the category of Entrepreneur pass in employing a few of the locals.
