DUBAI – Turkey’s strengthening profile as a major player in the cosmetics and beauty products sec-tor will be evident at this year’s Beautyworld Middle East. Riding on continuing robust manufacturing growth, Turkish companies are eyeing the lucrative markets of the region and increasing their pres-ence at the leading trade show for beauty products, hair care, fragrances and wellbeing.

According to organiser, Epoc Messe Frankfurt, the Turkish participation at Beautyworld Middle East 2011 – which runs from May 24th to 26th at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre – will be significantly larger than in the past.

“Turkish companies are increasingly targeting the Middle Eastern consumer, as their industry gains worldwide stature,” said Chief Executive Officer, Ahmed Pauwels. “Discerning buyers in the region will be attracted by the increasing range of high-quality products being manufactured by Turkish companies, who are now leveraging their historic ties with this region to promote their products,” Pauwels added.

Growing at an enviable 15% annually, the Turkish beauty products and cosmetics industry is rapidly gaining a reputation for high-quality goods that are optimally priced. Today, the sector is worth around US$2.5 billion and employs over 15,000 people, according to recent estimates by IKMIB (Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters). Soap products occupy the largest share in this sector while other leading product groups are; personal care products, make up products, coloured cosmetic products, skin care products, perfume and deodorants.

CEO of IKMIB Mr. Murat Akyuz, said: “We have been heavily involved in Beautyworld Middle East for seven years now and we are noticing an increased interest from Turkish companies within the cosmetics and beauty sectors towards the event. The Gulf region and beyond offers some great op-portunities and companies exhibiting within the Turkish pavilion are anxious to be a part of this.” IKMIB is the platinum sponsor at Beautyworld Middle East and main organiser for the Turkish pavilion at the event.

Spearheading the Turkish presence at Beautyworld Middle East will be the Turkish Trends Area and a Turkish National Pavilion. The Turkish Trend Area will feature a dedicated Turkish Bath section de-signed to represent traditional Turkish culture and cosmetics and to emphasise the importance given to the cleanliness and the hygiene in Turkish society since ancient times. The Turkish Pavilion will feature the latest range of products from 61 companies interested in forging fresh business links with the regional beauty industry.
