Moped Insurance Rates are Set To Fall

Dayton, Ohio - May 13, 2011 - Moped insurance rates are set to fall as the number of riders increase and local governments push to develop standardized safety parameters, according to the writers for the website www.MopedInsurance411.com.

As gas prices increase and more teens seek better mobility an earlier age there has been a renewed and increased interest in moped and scooters.

15 year old John Jacobs falls into the second category. He recently was given a moped for a birthday present. He asked his parents for one so that he could get around his small town more easily and more frequently.

“The moped has been terrific for me because I get to go when and where I want to in town,” said Mr. Jacobs, “there is a lot of freedom associated with owning one.” That sentiment is felt by people of all ages.

The older population has been flocking to mopeds to lower their cost of transportation. As gas prices soared past $4.00 per gallon this spring, people began to look for ways to lower costs in every area of their life.

57 year old Melissa Townsend fits into the cost cutting category. She recently purchased a moped to help her run errands around town while trying to save money on transportation costs.

“My moped has been terrific,” said Ms. Townsend, “the fun of riding and the savings I have received have offset the cost of the purchase.” The fun of riding has also assisted the increase in ridership over the last several years.

That increase in ridership has many local governments calling for safety programs to insure riders understand the traditional rules of driving and that those same riders carry insurance to cover any accidents they may get into with other drivers and pedestrians.

“It is the local safety, training and protection requirements that are driving the need for the insurance,” says Jack Thompson, a content coordinator for www.MopedInsurance411.com. “The insurance companies see a market developing and are becoming very competitive in their offerings and their pricing in an effort to attract new customers who may eventually purchase a car and a home and need that type of insurance as well.”
