Buffalo Grove Invisalign Pro Says It’s the Orthodontist, Not the Treatment Type

Buffalo Grove Invisalign provider Dr. Yan Razdolsky shares characteristics that indicate a patient is in good hands with their orthodontist and questions to ask potential providers.

BUFFALO GROVE, ILLINOIS- When it comes to getting braces, people must realize all providers are not created equal.

The fact is- just like in any field- some orthodontists simply are better and more qualified than others, said Dr. Yan Razdolsky, a Buffalo Grove Invisalign expert. Razdolsky offers a list of questions patients can ask potential providers to help pick the best orthodontist to provide treatment.

  • Ask to go over the orthodontist’s credentials, training, whether they are board certified, etc.

All of these factors help reveal the orthodontist’s expertise, Razdolsky said.

  • Ask to see before/after pictures.

Specifically, ask to see pictures of patients who had malocclusions similar to what you’ve been diagnosed with so you can see the orthodontist’s results.

  • Ask yourself if you like the orthodontist and his/her staff.

This may sound silly or shallow, but it’s not.

“Your treatment will last months or even years, which means you’ll be seeing a lot of these people,” said Razdolsky, an adult and children’s orthodontist. “For that reason alone, you ought to have a good rapport with them.”

  • Don’t get stuck on one particular treatment method.

Just because patients hear a lot about Invisalign, to use one example, does not mean that’s the best treatment option for their unique orthodontic issue. When an orthodontist recommends a particular treatment option, know that it’s OK to ask him or her to explain why that is the best choice.

The most important thing to remember is that when it comes to quality orthodontic treatment, it’s not the braces; it’s the orthodontist, Razdolsky said. Appliances will only get patients so far. They need a qualified, creative professional using those appliances the right way to achieve the ideal tooth movements necessary to create a proper alignment and bite relationship.

“That is how you will get the smile you can be proud of,” he said.
