University of Amsterdam Dental Student Interns with NYC Orthodontist

A University of Amsterdam dental school student has joined Bronsky Orthodontics for a five-week internship that began March 29.

Anne Bo Hattem is a dental student considering completing an orthodontic residency after she graduates in January 2014. She would like to do that in the U.S, so she opted for an internship in the Big Apple.

Hattem’s interest in orthodontics began during her first year of dental school.

“We had to select a dental specialization such as periodontics or orthodontics for our internship, and I selected orthodontics because I enjoy the combination of techniques and aesthetic results that are achieved in just a couple of years,” she said. “I also enjoy working with my hands.”

Hattem knows she wants to specialize in a dental area, as opposed to becoming a general dentist. In school, she’s been told distinct differences exist between patients in Europe and the United States, she said. Particularly, she’s heard American patients have higher treatment expectations. She’s interested in seeing firsthand if that is true.

She also looks forward to watching how NYC orthodontist Dr. Mark Bronsky works, communicates with patients, solves problems, creates treatment plans and treats patients with aesthetic treatment options such as ceramic and lingual braces, as well as Invisalign and Invisalign Teen.

“We are delighted that Anne Bo chose us for her internship,” Bronsky said. “We hope to expose her to treatments that will further instill her desire to pursue orthodontics after she graduates.”
