"It never used to be a [workforce] competition across markets like this," Paulsen reflected during a question-and-answer session with the TWS staff. "The best thing we can do is get the economy back on track. We have to refocus our efforts so that folks like Third Wave Systems can survive. When competing against countries like China and India, we've got to be on top of our game and on our mark. I want to be as helpful as I can, and it helps me to hear from people and find out how I really can help."
Last month, Paulsen was elected to the House Financial Services Committee to focus on creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. His visit to Third Wave Systems serves as a promising indicator of future support for the high-tech software and services company, which has experienced consistent growth over the past 10 years, landing on the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal's list of the 50 fastest growing private companies in the Twin Cities area in both 2007 and 2008, as well as Inc. magazine's list of the 5000 fastest growing private companies in the United States in 2008.
