Institute on Religion and Public Policy Calls on Congress to Help Military First-Time Homebuyersby Martin Barillas Friday, June 26, 2009
"The men and women serving in our military make a great sacrifice for our nation, and we believe that this bill will help alleviate some of the financial concerns they may have with purchasing a home," Mr. Grieboski's letter stated. "The provisions in this bill will allow service members to gain full benefit from the tax incentives provided for in H.R. 3221, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, if they must sell their first home within 36 months from the purchase date due to a duty reassignment," the letter continued. "Not only will H.R. 2398 allow military families the full benefits of our tax laws, it will also help reduce the stress and anxiety associated with a change in duty station." While this is not usually an issue with which the Institute would be involved, Mr. Grieboski pointed out that, "Our service members make huge sacrifices, sometimes with their lives, to uphold our freedom of religion. We at the Institute are compelled by our firm commitment to promote religious freedom to stand up for our fellow countrymen." The full text of the letter can be found here. ### About Institute on Religion and Public Policy The Institute on Religion and Public Policy is an international, inter-religious non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring freedom of religion as the foundation for security, stability, and democracy.
