Singapore is a city-state of opportunities—both for employers and employees. Of late, nationals from Asia Pacific flock to Singapore to take advantage of its yet another enticing feature—training platform.
Asiabiz Services, a professional firm based in Singapore creating solutions and innovations to make doing business the easiest in the city-state, says that foreign nationals need a training pass to gain entry.
“Relative to the qualifications of an applicant, there are two types of training pass to apply for,” says one of Asiabiz’s business consultants, “the ministry of manpower issues a training work permit and training employment pass.”
Asiabiz Services processes applications for all types of labor passes in Singapore as channelled by employing or training companies.
A Training Work Permit is meant for semi-skilled or unskilled foreign trainees that shall undergo training in the city-state for up to 6 months. Foreign students studying in private educational institutions in Singapore may also apply for a Training Work Permit.
Before applying for such pass however, Asiabiz warns that foreign individuals that are paid for S$2,500 or more each month and with tertiary educational and professional qualifications are barred from applying. A similar statement is made of foreigners that are on short term visit pass for social purpose except those who are Malaysians.
Asiabiz says: “Applying for a Training Work Permit requires several documents such as a letter from the local employer, a copy of the student pass and a letter stating his field of study, course duration along with registration date and expected graduation date, required training period, and a statement that the training is part of course requirement.”
For trainees who are also employees of a foreign company, the letter from the employing company must include information indicating the relationship between the local and overseas companies, and supporting documents to show such relationship.
Moving on, a Training Employment pass is issued to undergraduates and trainees from foreign offices or subsidiaries.
To qualify, Asiabiz chimes: “The applicant should receive a fixed monthly salary not below S$2,500 and possesses tertiary level of educational and professional qualifications.”
Included in the documents to submit is a detailed training programme containing information such as objective of training, type of training, location of training, and the duration of training.
Besides processing applications for labor passes, Asiabiz also specializes in company incorporation, business registration, nominee services, and accounting services including bookkeeping and filing of annual returns.
