London, Wednesday, 28 February 2011: Tradeshift,The global business network that allows anyone to exchange invoices for free, today announced the integration of PayPal payments. The new offering between PayPal and Tradeshift will give customers the ability to make direct payments of their invoices which results in faster transactions and reduced rates for international transfers when compared to regular banks.

Customers can pay invoices within Tradeshift simply by clicking “Pay with PayPal". Information from the invoice is automatically populated meaning no manual reentering of data, saving time and reducing human error making invoicing and trading more effective.

Christian Lanng, CEO of Tradeshift says “since we launched Tradeshift, our customers have been asking for the ability to pay invoices faster and more seamlessly. We are very happy to have released this new offering”.

PayPal payments is extremely disruptive compared to global bank fund transfers. Together with PayPal and combining the social network technology with e-business, organisations can get paid even faster.

Lanng concludes, “As an added benefit, our Tradeshift customers in the UK and the US can pay with PayPal Business Payments which means they only pay a minimal flat rate regardless of how large the payment amount is. All they need is a PayPal business account”.

To celebrate integrated Tradeshift payments with PayPal, the first 250 TechCrunch readers who sign-up and invoice Tradeshift with the line “Shift Happens” in the invoice using PayPal payments will immediately receive $10 . In addition,Tradeshift is giving new and existing customers an additional $5 in PayPal payouts for each contact they introduce to Tradeshift.

About Tradeshift

Tradeshift was founded in 2009 by Gert Sylvest, Mikkel Hippe Brun and Christian Lanng, formerly open e-business pioneers working in the European Union and Danish Government. The initial driver behind Tradeshift’s foundation was frustration with available solutions and technology, but soon the company’s founders realized that a fundamental shift in the focus of business networks was needed. They aimed to create a new kind of network – one that focused on people and business relationships as well as transactions.

The founders and their team of experienced advisors set out to revolutionize business processes, and they started with invoicing. Traditionally, invoicing solutions were almost entirely disconnected from the businesses they served. The market was also fragmented, with solutions tailored either to small businesses with a focus on PDF invoices or to large businesses sending XML or EDIFACT documents. At no point did these worlds meet, and the invoicing requirements of large businesses often proved a serious impediment to their smaller suppliers and customers.

The Tradeshift revolution changes all this. With Tradeshift, every business – from small suppliers to global enterprises – can use the same network, and invite all their suppliers and customers to join. It’s easy to get started and the cost savings are significant, as are the environmental benefits of bringing the era of paper invoicing to an end.
