Wart Freezing to the BankThe best thing people with warts can do is to ask for the advice of a dermatologist. The doctor performs the diagnosis and recommends the treatment that suits the condition of each person. However, not everybody has the funds for treatments based on lasers, chemotherapy or surgical interventions. Beby Trevor Gill Sunday, March 27, 2011
Hydrogen peroxide, mercurochrome, Bactine, alcohol and hydrocortisone are only some of the over the counter wart removal products. These are among the substances that relieve the symptoms without effectively helping to get rid of the virus. On the other hand, concentrated salicylic acid proves to be very efficient. Covering the inflamed area with a few drops from this substance will help people to get rid of the warts without hurting the derma. However, the treatment based on salicylic acid has a downside: the results become visible after a long period of time. People must apply this substance for a period that ranges from a few days to several weeks. Cryotherapy has been used by dermatologists as a wart removal treatment for a long time. The good news is that the substances used for this procedure are now available without medical prescription. Over the counter wart removal cryogenics are applied on and around the lesions. The warts drop down as dead skin tissue if the procedure is repeated for a couple of times. People who have warts can now apply aerosols on the affected areas. Cryotherapy that is performed at home also has a downside: the cryogenic agents tend to be pricey. The price of a single dose is up to $20. Duct tape may also be considered an over the counter wart removal product. The affected area is covered with duct tape during the night. In the morning the area is bathed and cleaned with an abrasive object, such as pumice stone. This procedure must be repeated for several weeks. Over the counter wart removal products may prove to be ineffective. In this situation, the best solution is to ask the advice of a dermatologist. The procedures that are done next imply lasers, cauterization, use of concentrated acids and surgical interventions. These methods are effective in most of the cases, but they may produce scarring.
