Rikvin Explains On S-Pass Singapore Work Visa

The Ministry of Manpower designed distinct work visas to meet certain qualifying requirements. Its employment opportunities are open to all foreign individuals irrespective of nationalities.
Among the work visas drawing much attention is the S pass.
Known as Specialist pass, the S pass is issued upon foreign individuals, specifically the mid-level skilled workers. The application is given merits based on points from criteria prepared by the Ministry of Manpower.
“The S pass applicants are assessed based on their monthly salary offer, educational qualifications, the nature of job sought or offered in Singapore, and the number of years of relevant work experience,” says Rikvin’s business consultant.
In a recent announcement made by the Ministry of Manpower, the salary threshold for S pass is raised to S$2,000.
Meanwhile, Rikvin says that “the educational qualifications may encompass a university or college degree, or diploma or technical certificates.”
Since the technical certificates are broad and wide, the Ministry specifies that each certification should require one full year of study to train the individual to be a qualified specialist in a chosen field.
Examples of job position sought by S pass applicants are specialist, technician, or professional. The job experience and number of years specializing in a certain field can be relative and crucial to the approval of S pass.
According to Rikvin, the Ministry allows the S-pass holders to bring their spouses and children below 21 years of age by obtaining a corresponding Dependant pass.
“Parents and parent-in-laws can also stay in Singapore by applying for a Long-Term Visit pass,” assures Rikvin.
Holders of S pass are also qualified to apply for a Permanent Residence without waiting period, but are recommended to wait for two years before they submit their application.
Rikvin is an immigration specialist besides being an expert in company incorporation. It processes work visa applications as a requisite for investors to run their company in Singapore and as a work visa for employment seekers.
“Companies in Singapore channel to us the applications for labor passes for their employees to save time and other resources,” chimes Rikvin.
Once approved, the foreign national will receive an In-Principle Approval notification via an e-mail. This document provides a single entry to Singapore to collect the S pass.
“We make an appointment with the minister for the collection of S pass by the applicants. We can also accompany them at the Work Pass Division,” chants Rikvin in conclusion.
